Your prediction for our final league position?
We're one third of the way through the season and that's enough for a good idea of how things are going to pan out for the rest of the season. Or should be.

I predict we're going to finish 8th.

Chelsea will win the league, Man City 2nd and Man Utd 3rd.

Arsenal and Liverpool will occupy 4th and 5th, with Southampton in 6th. Spurs will make it to 7th, followed by us and then Newcastle.

QPR, Burnley and one other to be relegated.

Re: Your prediction for our final league position?
This season, we really have to wait for this run up to New Year's to be out of the way to have a good idea. It has been the most open start to a season I can remember for a long time; open for the bottom 19 teams at least.

Chelsea will need to self-destruct in a spectacular fashion to lose this; everything else is up in the air, especially with so many dodgy defences in the normal top teams.

I have severe doubts that liverpool can turn their season round in a hurry.

8th is a fair guess for us, if we don't lose too much form, but at present, it's not deluded to hope for even better. It's all down to whether we can keep the goals coming. I have faith in our defence to maintain a generally tight ship, but it's hard to believe we can keep scoring so many.

Fingers crossed and enjoy the ride, Hammers!

Re: Your prediction for our final league position?
It's a mark of how far we have come that we can be so disappointed by a narrow defeat away at Everton having been the better side for large chunks of the game, while we had four of our best players out injured.

Next week v Newcastle becomes (another) season defining game.... win and we can go into a series of games we should get points from in the top 5, lose and we will slip into midtable and will probably stay there for the rest of the season.

I am an optimist so I reckon we will win at the weekend and finish 7th (and qualify for Europa League).

If on the other hand BFS continues to favour Nolan and Cole over Zarate then 12th.

I said 9th back in August and as yet, I see no reason to change that.

Re: Your prediction for our final league position?
I reckon 8th or 9th, assuming no injury crisis.

Although that will obviously happen and we'll end up about 12th.

One plus is our massively injury depleted side (for example on saturday) is actually what our first choice XI looked like last season.

PROGRESS!

Below Chelsea, above Burnley.

El.... it's actually a lot better!

Two decent fullbacks and more than one up front including a player (Zarate) who actually looks as if he is trying to do more than just go through the motions.

Re: Your prediction for our final league position?
I don't see Liverpool turning things round to fight for 4th spot.

Also I don't expect Spurs to finish above us. They are dog shit this year!

I think Southampton can continue on though.

Chelsea
City
Southampton
Arsenal

Man U
Newcastle / Everton, Swansea or Us will follow the next 4 places in some order

Re: Your prediction for our final league position?
Generally, a team finishes approximately according to its relative strength. That what a whole season is all about.

Academy321, for once I think we can say with some confidence that we're a stronger first team than Newcastle, Swansea, Southampton and Everton. Arguably Spurs too. Which leaves Chelsea, the two Manchesters, Liverpool and Arsenal with significantly stronger first teams.

So that leaves a top league of Chelsea, Manchester x2, Arsenal and Liverpool, with us, Newcastle, Everton, Spurs and Southampton (possibly Swansea) battling for 6th. No reason we can't top that mini-league.

Re: Your prediction for our final league position?
Southampton have got a difficult run coming up but rather than fall away I reckon they will continue and take points off some of the bigger sides.... hope so as that will help us as well.

I reckon we will finish above at least three of Liverpool, Everton, Spurs, Swansea and Newcastle.
